I think their cakes are delicious, and the service at this Coral Gables location is great. I'm not a huge fan of their frosting, which is far too sweet for my taste. Still, Edda's cakes have been my favorite birthday treat for years!

I ordered a Ben 10 cake for my son's birthday and they did an amazing job. I brought pics of how i wanted it to look like and they replicated it perfectly. We ordered the Marble flavor which was delicious. Update: We now get all our special party cakes done here...They never disappoint. Cakes are always beautiful! We usually go with the Vanilla Rum cake.

With the excitment of our upcoming wedding, my fiancee and I went to Edda's for a wedding cake. The first time there, we were treated with a sort of coldness but we ignored it and sat down to look at their gallery of wedding cake photos. We found one we liked and got a quote for it. We didn't order it right then because it was the first place we visited. The second time we went we decided beforehand that we would order the cake. We walked in only to be greeted by another woman, colder than the first that told us to sit down and she'd be right with us. 10 minutes later (and there were no other customers) she sat with us and gave us a completely different quote, much more expensive. Needless to say, we are still on the search for our wedding cake.

This is my to go to place for cake in Miami. Used to get all my cakes from here. Love their Dulce de leche filled cake its great just need to order it in advance Nex time i'm in town I will make sure to stop by a get a slice.

Recently had a hankering for rumcake but was too lazy to bake one. Decided to try a ready-made one from Cake Designs by Edda in downtown Coral Gables. The sticker on the box of the cake said it was a vanilla rumcake, but the cake tasted heavily of coconut with barely the slightest whiff of rum. Also very buttery - a bit too buttery for my taste. Not really my kind of rumcake. I was rather annoyed to hear that the exact same cakes were being sold at the local Winn-Dixie for $1 less than what I paid at Edda's shop. (And parking at Winn-Dixie is free, as opposed to parking on Giralda lol.) If you do like their style of rumcake, though, it's convenient to be able to quickly pop in and walk out with one. EDIT: I went to Winn-Dixie to check it out for myself. The rumcakes are for sale there at the same price (not a lower price) than at Edda's shop.

I just ordered a cake this week for my husband's birthday and we were all disappointed. The rum cake is supposed to be moist, yet it was dry like it was baked days before. As for customer service, the lady that took my order over the phone, kept telling me to wait while she discussed something with another employee, it was made clear that she was displeased that I had called and interrupted her.

For years I've bought from eddas, there cakes are great tasting but I've had it with horrible hostile employees, who don't even seem to pay mind to there costumers I don't think they've ever failed at picking up a call with a horrid attitude, they about did It when I ordered recently a "BASKETBALL" and specifically said "Heat" themed and they gave me a soccer cake .... What the hell. Edda. Your cakes are amazing , your employers are another story.

I got my wedding cake here through my package at my venue. The process for cake tasting etc. was very easy we had no trouble making an appointment for our tasting unlike other cake vendors where the earliest appointment was months away. They were very busy and we had to wiat little bit the day of our tasting, but the cakes were all delicious and there were lots of designs and unique flavors to choose from. We ended up settling on a delicious red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting. The cake arrived on time and was beautiful, the only problem was that our wedding cake had buttercream, NOT the cream cheese frosting we ordered. You can't eat red velvet cake with buttercream. It sorta ruined the cake for me as I don't like buttercream, but the guests liked it.

If you are thinking of walking in and getting a cake to go with a message on it, I suggest you call and order it first. If not, you will be in the store for some time, think of it as they will probably be making the cake.... they took so long just to have a cake ready. Went in for a cake, without ordering it first, they took approximately 30 mins. It's just putting a nice decoration in it!!... customer service was not friendly at all, the lady that "helped" me... was not friendly at all. She was minding her own business... but I have to say.... did take the order.... was on her way of doing strings... kind of took the order.... kept doing her stuff.... and not friendly at all. The quality of the cake is good, but they lack friendly customer service.

It's an expensive bakery focused on custom cakes. The customer experience is rather poor for the amount of money you will spend there. The girls care, it just seams they don't have enough knowledge/experience in how to work with more demanding customers. I've ordered a pretty complicated cake, so we had a lot of back and forward. They were not very timely on getting back to me, but all worked out in the end with a little of stress on my side. The ordered cake was right on time and exactly to my specifications. The decorators did a great job with it and I was very pleased. Guests of my party were divided on the taste. Some loved it, most said it was ok... all agreed it was way too sweet and the texture was not fluffy enough. After being in a fridge overnight it became rather hard and unpleasant to eat, even after returning it to room temperature. We've ordered vanilla rum, guava and pina colada cakes - guava was the favorite one, with vanilla rum slightly behind and pina colada, which was truly overly sweet, third. Overall, if I would have another elaborate cake and cared more about the design then the perfect taste, I would go with this bakery again, but for smaller occasions, I will be looking for a different option.

Cakes Designs by Eddas is my favorite bakery in the Gables. This tiny little bakery looks like it just specializes in wedding cakes, but once you enter you realize it offers more then tiered wedding cakes. It has a large display of cupcakes, cookies, and cakes available. Their specialtiy vanilla rum cake is my favorite. It is usually the cake of choice for all our office birthday parties. If you order in advance you can even get a custom design cake. My friend is addicted to chapstick, so we order one custom chapstick birthday cake. it was even better then I could ever imagine.

I,ve tried to buy a cake twice in their coral gables store, first time I had to wait for more than 40 minutes for the cake although I had place the order 4 days in advance, needless to say I canceled the order and left the store, second time I called one day before my son's birthday to order a dulce de leche cake and was told that I had to call like 2 days before the party, but I called Lucila's cake, ordered it the day before, and was ready to be picked up when I got to the store. employees need more training in customer service

I have been getting my birthday cakes from Eddas for years (from the Doral and Coral Gable locations). The cakes are delicious and very nicely decorated. They offer different sizes and flavors like vanilla-rum, guava, chocolate, piña colada and others. If it's an special occasion you can order a decorated cake made with fondant, they have plenty of designs you can choose from. The only time where I had a bad experience was when I ordered a Batman design for my nephew's birthday cake and the cake did not look anything like the picture on their book, I complained and they agreed with me, knocked down the price to compensate and that was it. I have and will continue being a customer. Overall is a great cake shop.

We got married at the Westin Colonnade in Coral Gables and part of our package included our wedding cake. We were given 3 options and decided to go with Edda's because we both loved how moist and delicious their cakes were. We'd been warned that their customer service wasn't the best, so we went in with low expectations. Since we live out of state, we scheduled our tasting 6 months prior to our wedding when we'd be in town taking care of other business. We arrived early for our appointment but had to wait. Grace told us to have a seat, dropped off a tray of cake samples with little signs indicating what each flavor was, and an album with photos of the designs that were included in our package, along with a listing of the up-charges. Since we were expecting 110-120 people, we were told our cake would be three tiers, despite the fact up to four tiers were included in our package. We told them we planned to save our top tier due to tradition thus we wanted to have 3 tiers for our guests to eat, but they still wouldn't budge and refused to do anymore than 3 tiers. Anyway, we ended up having 2 tiers of red velvet and 1 tier of pina colada with a butter cream frosting. The day of our wedding, in order to serve everyone, they had to cut the slices of the 2 tiers very small, fortunately no one said anything but I noticed. Overall, we were pleased with our cake and everyone raved about how good it was especially the pina colada.
